Perfect Records was an American record label from Miami . It should not be confused with a record label of the same name from the 1920s and 1930s.

history

Perfect was founded in 1955 by studio and label owner Harold Doane as a sub-label of his main company Art Records . However, John Miller assumed in 1979 that Perfect was founded as the exclusive country label for Art in the early 1950s. The first known releases come from Tommy Spurlin and his band, who were still playing country music at the time. In the course of 1956 the repertoire of the label changed towards rockabilly . Spurlin released Hang Loose / One-Eyed Sam , Wesley Hardin Honky Tonk Man / Cry! Cry! Cry! and Mike Shaw Lone Gone Baby / Frankie and Johnny . At the end of 1956, Doane Perfect closed again and replaced the label in 1957 with AFS Records .

Perfects records were produced by Art Records, Inc., and may have been pressed by Art, according to the label, but little information is available on this. Tommy Spurlin's Hang Loose became a hit in the UK in the 1970s with the rockabilly revival.
