Perses (son of Perseus)
Perses ( Greek Πέρσης ) is a figure in Greek mythology . The Persians are said to be named after him.
He is the eldest son of Perseus and the Ethiopian princess Andromeda . He was born in Ethiopia just before Perseus returns to Greece with Andromeda. Perses stays with his grandfather Cepheus and is supposed to inherit his kingdom, since Cepheus himself does not have a male heir. He later subdues the Persians, who take their name from him. According to Nikolaos of Damascus , he is said to be the father of Achaimenes , the mythical ancestor of the Persian royal dynasty of the Achaemenids .
