The Pestalozzischule Durlach is a Karlsruhe elementary and secondary school with an attached secondary school in the Durlach district , where around 500 students are taught.

history

After the foundation stone was laid in January 1914, the new school building was inaugurated on October 23, 1915. After the original name of the Hindenburg School was changed to the Goetheschule in 1922 and back to the Hindenburg School in 1933, an application by the Durlach teachers finally led to the current name Pestalozzi School, named after Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi .

After the Second World War , the school building was first used by the French occupation authorities and from October 1946 as a retirement home for refugees from eastern areas. Then the school building could be used again as such.

All-day elementary school

The Pestalozzi School has had all-day classes in the primary school sector since the 1999/2000 school year. The reliable primary school was only introduced nationwide in 2000/2001. During the week from 7:40 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., parents can leave the pupils in the school. Visiting the all-day classes is free of charge , with the exception of a fee for lunch .

However, due to the planned maximum class size of 22 students, these places are limited. In the allocation, the pupils of the school district are taken into account first, then pupils with single parents or working parents are taken into account.
