Pete Robbins (* 28. November 1978 in Andover (Massachusetts) ) is an American jazz - saxophonist , composer , bandleader and promoter.

biography

Robbins graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover in 1997 and then studied at the New England Conservatory and Tufts University until 2002 . He came to New York in 2002, where he immediately worked with his own groups; He leads the bands Centric , Silent Z and is a member of the Robbins / Pavone / Sorey trio (with bassist Mario Pavane and drummer Tyshawn Sorey ) with performances in New York's Cornelia Street Cafe and tours in the USA and Europe, where he also performed performed at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival.

In addition to his musical activities, Robbins was the curator of a series of jazz events in the Cornelia Street Café in 2004, which was carried out by the non-profit organization Music for America . Robbins' Centric Ensemble played with Dave Douglas , Uri Caine and Ravi Coltrane, among others . He was awarded the New Works: Creation and Presentation Prize for his compositional achievements .
