The Peter Paul Rubens School was a three-class elementary school in the Schöneberg district of Berlin , which arose from a merger of the Uckermark and Barnim schools . Grades 1 to 3 were grouped into twelve multi-year classes in the former Uckermark primary school at Rubensstrasse 63. Grades 4 to 6 were taught in ten year classes in the former Barnim elementary school at Grazer Platz 1–3.

history

The school was founded in 1902 as the Helmholtz Realgymnasium on Rubensstrasse in the then still independent town of Schöneberg. After the Second World War it was named Uckermark School after the Brandenburg Uckermark landscape . In 1982, under the direction of Rolf Schüppel, a school trial was carried out for the first time in Germany with the integration of disabled and non-disabled students close to the school . In 1992 the school received the German Elementary School Prize for this .

The Peter Paul Rubens School emerged on August 1, 2008 from the Barnim and Uckermark Schools. From August 1, 2012 to July 31, 2015, it became the elementary level of the 1st community school in Schöneberg . Since August 1, 2015, after another democratically elected name change, it has been the elementary level of the Friedenau community school .
