Peter and Paul Church (Nemajūnai)
The Peter and Paul Church Nemajūnai is a Catholic neo-Gothic church in Nemajūnai in which birštonas municipality , 6 km southeast of Birštonas , in the deanery Stakliškės ( Roman Catholic Diocese of Kaišiadorys ) in Lithuania .
history
In 1786 the first wooden church was built by Kristina Kačanauskienė and a parish was founded. In the 18th century there was a community school. In 1858 a new project of the wooden church and in 1862 that of a solid structure were confirmed. Pastor Anzelmas Nonevičius built a new wooden church in 1877 based on the project by Tomas Tišeckis, completed in 1861 and confirmed in 1876 .
