The diocese of Kaišiadorys ( Latin : Dioecesis Kaisiadorensis , Lithuanian : Kaišiadorių vyskupija ) is a Lithuanian diocese in central Lithuania . The bishopric is located in Kaišiadorys .
history
The diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Vilnius and was founded on April 4th 1926 by Pope Pius XI. founded. This regulated the adjustment of the administrative borders of the Roman Catholic Church in the Baltic States to the political borders of the time. The diocese of Kaišiadorys are those areas of the Archdiocese of Vilnius which, after the Polish occupation of the Polish- speaking area around Vilnius from October 12, 1920, did not belong to Litwa Środkowa and from 1922 not to the Polish Republic , but to the republic founded in 1918 Lithuania remained.
