Kaišiadorys (German, 18th Century: Kosche Daren ) is a city and seat of the same name Rajongemeinde in Lithuanian Kaunas district . In the municipality, the core city is an urban district and the seat of a neighboring office. The core city has almost 10,000 inhabitants, the community 36,285.
In Kaišiadorys there is a district court , a large poultry farm, a glue factory and several smaller companies. Here is the seat of the Lithuanian Veterinary Institute.
history
The name of the city is derived from a manor house first mentioned in 1590 as Košeidarowo . This apparently belonged to the Tatars Haji Dar Momulevič .
The place only developed into a city in the 20th century due to its location at a railway junction. At the station Kaišiadorys the routes of branch Vilnius to Riga and from Kaunas . Today, the proximity to the Kaunas – Vilnius expressway is a particular advantage in terms of transport.
The Diocese of Kaišiadorys has existed since 1942 , the episcopal church is the Christ Cathedral .
In 1960 the Lithuanian Veterinary Research Institute ( Lietuvos veterinarijos mokslinio tyrimo institutas ) was founded in Kaišiadorys. It became a department of what is now the Veterinary Academy of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences .
Rajong Parish
The Rajongemeinde ( Kaišiadorių rajono savivaldybė ) includes the two cities Kaišiadorys and Žiežmariai (3730 inhab.), The three towns ( miesteliai ) Kruonis , Rumšiškės and Žasliai , and 401 villages. The largest of these, Gudiena with 1664 inhabitants, borders directly on the city.
