Career

The 1.98 meter tall Lithuanian began his professional career at Sakalai Vilnius , where he stayed until 1999, before moving to BC Lietuvos Rytas . At Lietuvos Rytas, Šiškauskas was under contract until 2004 and won the Lithuanian championship there. He was also able to win the NEBL with his club.

In 2004 the Lithuanian moved abroad to Benetton Treviso in Italy . With Treviso, Šiškauskas won the cup (2005) and the championship (2006).

In the 2006/2007 season Ramūnas Šiškauskas played for the Greek club Panathinaikos Athens , where he won the Greek Championship , the Greek Cup and the ULEB Euroleague . In 2007, Šiškauskas moved to the Russian club CSKA Moscow for a transfer fee of one million euros . With Moscow he won the ULEB Euroleague again in 2008 and the Russian championship five times in a row between 2008 and 2012.

In 2012, Šiškauskas announced his retirement from active sports.

National team

Ramūnas Šiškauskas was one of the key players of the Lithuanian national team and was able to win gold ( 2003 ) and bronze ( 2007 ) with this at the European basketball championship. He was also a bronze medalist at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney .

Šiškauskas was characterized by great jumping ability and agility, which, formally listed as a small forward, made him applicable in almost all positions (except center ). In addition, there was a high level of accuracy in distance throws.
