Mirsad Türkcan ( Cyrillic Мирсад Туркџан, born June 7, 1976 in Novi Pazar , Yugoslavia , as Mirsad Jahović , Cyrillic Мирсад Јаховић ) is a Turkish basketball player with Bosniak roots. He took the surname Türkcan after he was naturalized in Turkey.
Career
He began his career in Turkey in 1993, when he was playing for Anadolu Efes SK . In 1999 he moved to the New York Knicks . In 2000, Türkcan moved to the Milwaukee Bucks . In the same year he moved to France , namely to Paris Basket Racing . In 2001 he moved to Russia and played there for CSKA Moscow . In 2002 he left Moscow and joined Mens Sana Basket Siena in Italy . In 2003 he returned to CSKA Moscow. In 2004 he left CSKA Moscow and moved to city rivals Dynamo Moscow . In 2005 he returned to Turkey and played for Ülkerspor there. In 2006 he moved to Fenerbahçe Ülker ; he stayed there until the end of his career in 2012.
In 2001 he won silver with the Turkish national team at the European basketball championship in Turkey.
Private life
Mirsad Türkcan is the older brother of the singer Emina Jahović . On December 18, 2005, Türkcan married the then 18-year-old Miss Serbia and Montenegro, Dina Džanković. The couple divorced in 2012. With Dina Džanković, Türkcan has three children, a son and two daughters.
