Jan Veselý (born April 24, 1990 in Ostrava ) is a Czech basketball player . It is 2.13 m tall and can be used variably in the front court .

Career

NBA

Veselý began his professional career in Slovenia at KK Geoplin Slovan before moving to Serbia to KK Partizan Belgrade in 2008 . After reaching the Final Four of the Euroleague with Partizan , Veselý was awarded the FIBA Europe Player Of The Year Award for best European player under the age of 22 in 2010 .

In the 2011 NBA draft , he was elected sixth by the Washington Wizards . While he mostly held the position of small forward during his time in Europe , in his debut season with the Wizards he mostly played as a power forward , occasionally also in the center position .

He made his NBA debut on January 8, 2012 in the home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves , in the away game against the Houston Rockets he was in the starting five for the first time on January 27, 2012 and contributed five points, six rebounds and three steals . On February 12, 2012, he scored double-digit points in the game against the Detroit Pistons for the first time when he scored ten points, eight rebounds and three blocks from the bench. His first double-double followed on April 8, 2012, in the away game at the Charlotte Bobcats with 11 points and 11 rebounds as well as 2 blocks and 2 assists .

On February 20, 2014 Veselý was transferred to the Denver Nuggets as part of a three-team swap .

Europe

After Veselý could not prevail in the NBA, he moved to the Turkish top club Fenerbahçe Ülker in the TBL in August 2014 . In Turkey, Vesely was invited to the TBL All-Star Game in 2015 and 2016 and won the Turkish Cup with Ülker in 2016.
