Rumšiškės is a town and a center of the local district of the same ( seniūnija ) of Rajongemeinde Kaišiadorys in Lithuania , located between Kaunas Reservoir and the expressway Vilnius - Kaunas near Kaunas. Because of its prestigious waterfront location, the place is a rapidly growing part of Kaunas' bacon belt.

Attractions

The place is known for its extensive open-air ethnographic museum , the largest of its kind in Lithuania. Well-attended events take place here: especially on Shrove Tuesday and the solstice .

Some buildings, including the wooden church , were moved in 1959 before the Kaunasser Meer reservoir was flooded.
