Peter Büchner (educational scientist)
Peter Büchner (born December 31, 1941 in Glauchau , Saxony) is a German educational scientist and educational sociologist who was active in research and teaching at the Philipps University of Marburg until 2007 .
Life
Peter Büchner grew up in the former Soviet zone and later GDR and went to school there. In 1955 his family moved to the Federal Republic of Germany and found a new place to stay on Lake Constance.
In 1962 Büchner graduated from the Ambrosius-Blarer-Gymnasium in Gaienhofen / Bodensee. 1962 to 1964 he did his military service in the armed forces. From 1964 to 1968 he studied translation studies (English / French) and political science at Saarland University in Saarbrücken, University College London and Orléans University. In 1968 he completed his studies at Saarland University with a diploma examination. After postgraduate studies in political science, sociology and educational science at the University of Konstanz , he received his doctorate there in 1972. rer. soc. In 1977 he completed his habilitation in the subject sociology of education at the Free University of Berlin .
From 1968 to 1974 Büchner was a research associate at the Center for Educational Research at the University of Konstanz. Between 1974 and 1979 he worked as an assistant professor at the Free University of Berlin. In 1979 he followed a call to the Philipps University of Marburg, where he worked as a professor of educational science until his retirement (2007). Since 2010 he has lived with his family in Frankfurt / Main.
Büchner's work includes numerous publications (as author and editor) on educational and childhood sociological problems that are based on theoretical and empirical research results in the field of school, childhood, family and generation research.
