Peter Baumbach

Peter Baumbach (born March 8, 1940 in Wenigensommern ) is a German architect and professor at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art .

Life

The experimental building was based on a design by the collective of architects around Peter Baumbach and Erich Kaufmann.

Baumbach studied at the Technical University of Dresden from 1958 to 1964 and joined the SED . Since 1964 he has been a technologist, project manager and main architect in the Rostock housing association . He planned large residential areas between Rostock and Warnemünde according to the Bandstadt concept developed by Hartmut Colden , from 1971 the interior design of the main center of Rostock- Evershagen and from 1980 the construction of locally adapted multi-storey houses in Rostock- Schmarl . From 1981 to 1983 the Rostock “House of Architects” was built as a reconstruction, and in 1986 the “five-gable house” was built using traditional elements.

In 1983 Baumbach became a professor at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art. From 1987 to 1989 he was a city architect in the City Council Addis Ababa , since then he has been running his own architectural office in Rostock.
