Peter Beckmann (medical doctor)

Peter Beckmann (born August 31, 1908 in Berlin ; † 1990 ) was a German cardiologist , gerontologist and art expert. He is the son of the painter Max Beckmann and the father of the curator Mayen Beckmann.

In 1936, after completing the dissertation “On the development of views on respiratory catalysts and clinical-therapeutic experiments with an inorganic catalyst” in Berlin, he was awarded the title of Dr. med. PhD . From 1950 onwards Beckmann developed the principle of activating people with chronic heart disease and helped this movement therapy achieve its breakthrough.

In 1989 an annual medal of honor from the German Society for Prevention and Rehabilitation of Cardiovascular Diseases (DGPR) was named after him.
