from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peter Behrens (* 1957 ) is a German chemist and director of the Institute for Inorganic Chemistry at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hanover .

Scientific work

Behrens received his doctorate in 1988 at the University of Hamburg (radiographic and X-ray absorption spectroscopic investigations as well as summarizing considerations on the structure of metal chloride-graphite intercalation compounds). He completed his habilitation in Konstanz and was with Galen Stucky at the University of California, Santa Barbara . In 1994 he became professor for inorganic chemistry in Munich and later in Hanover.

Among other things, he deals with porous materials and biomaterials , the production of materials for nanostructures with the help of laser-induced multiphoton polymerization and the functionalization of solid surfaces with applications in implants in medicine. He also synthesizes organometallic framework compounds (MOF) .

From 1998 to 2005 he was President of the German Zeolite Section, founded in 1993, and is a member of the Braunschweig Scientific Society .
