Life

Peter Borjans grew up in a Catholic civil servant family with seven siblings and first attended high school in Hattingen, then in Schwelm in the Ennepe-Ruhr district, which he left in 1968 with the Abitur. In the 1970/71 winter semester he moved to the University of Münster and studied pedagogy in addition to German studies. He completed his studies in 1975 with the state examination. In 1979 he received his doctorate in language and literature from the University of Duisburg. After his clerkship in 1980 he worked as a teacher at the Clauberg high school in Duisburg. In the same year he married Brigitta Heuser and their son Matthias was born.

He moved to the “Geschwister-Scholl-Gesamtschule” in Moers in 1985. From 1991 to 1996 he was didactic director at the “Duisburg-Ruhrort” comprehensive school and then founding director of the Duisburg comprehensive school “Globus am Dellplatz” for twelve years. He has been retired since 2008.

In addition to his professional activity, he was a reciter and singer with the Duisburg rock group "Rainer Lürik" on German stages or z. Partly on behalf of the Goethe Institute in Switzerland and the Czech Republic with the “Homo faber” programs by Max Frisch.
