Peter Burge

Peter Burge ( Peter Scott Burge ; born July 3, 1974 in Townsville ) is a former Australian long jumper .

He began his career as a triple jumper and was Australian champion in this discipline in 1993. In 1998 he switched to the long jump and immediately won gold at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur that season . The following year he had to pause because of a chronic injury to the groin . At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he was sixth and fourth at the 2001 World Indoor Athletics Championships . In 2000, 2001 and 2003 he became national champion in long jump. In 2003 he ended his sporting career. Peter Burge is 1.87 m tall and weighed 80 kg at competition times. He started for the Melbourne Track Club.
