Peter Cameron (writer)
Peter Cameron (born November 29, 1959 in Pompton Plains , New Jersey ) is an American author of novels and short stories .
Life
Cameron grew up in Pompton Plains , New Jersey , and London , United Kingdom . He studied at Hamilton College , New York State, and graduated in 1982 with a BA in English Literature. In 1983 he sold his first short story to The New Yorker magazine and published ten more stories there over the next few years. This led to the publication of his first book, a collection of stories, entitled One Way or Another in 1986 . In 1988 Cameron was hired to write a series novel for 7 Days magazine. This series, for which a chapter was written and published every week, became 1989 Leap Year , a novel about life and love in New York City in the 1980s. Since then, Cameron has continuously published novels and short stories that have been translated into numerous languages. Some of the works were also made into films. Cameron is also the editor of Shrinking Violet Press , a series of hand-crafted and Cameron-designed books of poetry or prose, limited to 10 copies each.
