Peter Ernst Rockstuhl
Peter Ernst Rockstuhl ( Russian Петер Эрнст Рокштуль , * 1764 in Angern ; † May 4, 1824 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Baltic German miniature painter and silhouette artist.
He began his work as a probably self-taught silhouette artist in Mitau , then he worked in Riga , Vilnius and, from 1804, in Saint Petersburg, where he became known as a miniature portraitist of wealthy society. He received orders from the Tsar's court.
He spent some time in Warsaw , where he married Charlotte Wilhelmine Falkenhahn on November 25, 1789.
His son, Alois Gustav von Rockstuhl (1798 in Vilnius - 1877 in Saint Petersburg), also became a miniature painter from Petersburg.
