Peter Fischer-Colbrie

Peter Fischer-Colbrie (* 1941 in Vienna ) is an Austrian specialist in horticulture.

Life

Peter Fischer-Colbrie studied forestry at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna, and received his doctorate in 1973. Since 1969 he has been an employee of the International Atomic Energy Agency Vienna (IAEA) in the development aid department.

In 1973 he moved to the Federal Institute for Plant Protection, from 1984–1988 he became department head of Zoology II. From 1989 he was director of the Austrian Federal Gardens . During his period of activity, the renovation of the palm and butterfly houses in Schönbrunn and Burggarten fall , and the work in the context of the park maintenance work in Schönbrunn in 1995. Outstanding is the inclusion of Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997. In 2003 he retired.

Fischer-Colbrie has been President of the Austrian Horticultural Society  (ÖGG) since 1999 . He is also a (co-opted) board member of the Austrian Society for Historic Gardens .

In 2004 he received the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the State of Vienna .

Publications
