Vlkov (German Wilkow , formerly Wlkow ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 16 kilometers north of České Budějovice in South Bohemia and belongs to the Okres České Budějovice .
geography
Vlkov is located in a clearing in the middle of the Nová obora forest on the Lischau threshold on the right-hand side above the valley of the Kozlovský potok. The Baba (570 m) rises to the south-east, the Cirhanský vrch (557 m) and the Kameniště (565 m) to the south-west.
Neighboring towns are Němčice, Budáček, Pořežany and Tuchonice in the north, Radonice, U Petra and Drahotěšice in the northeast, Gebrovna, Švamberk, Na Jednotě, U Prokšů and Mazelov in the east, Ševětín and Vitín in the southeast, Na Libochové, U nádýčany and Chotýčany in the south , Cirhan and Dobřejovice in the southwest, Poněšice and Chlumec in the west and Purkarec, Líšnice and Hroznějovice in the northwest.
history
The first mention of the village of Wlkow belonging to Froburg took place in 1443 in connection with the brothers from Wlkow and from Šewětín ( bratřie z Wlkowa jdúc ze Šewětína ). The owners included u. a. the lords of Pernstein , von Neuhaus and Malovec from Malovice . After financial speculation and the participation in the class uprising of 1618, the goods of the Malovec of Malovice were confiscated and in 1623 the rule was transferred to Baltasar of Marradas , who had them recatholized. In 1661 the von Marradas sold the rule to the princes Schwarzenberg . In 1840 Wlkow consisted of 9 houses with 79 inhabitants. There was an inn in the village. The pastor was Shevetin . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always subject to the Frauenberg rule.
After the abolition of patrimonial formed Vlkov / Wlkow 1850 a district of the municipality Dobřejovice in the district administration Budějovice / Budweis. In 1910 there were 126 Czech-speaking residents in the village. In 1923 Vlkov broke away from Dobřejovice and formed its own community. On July 14, 1964 it was incorporated into Drahotěšice and with this the village was annexed to Ševětín on July 1, 1975 . After a referendum, Vlkov broke away from Ševětín on November 24, 1990. With 31 inhabitants (January 1, 2012), Vlkov is one of the municipalities with the smallest number of inhabitants in the Czech Republic.
