history

The first written mention of Hwozdecz was in 1362 as the property of Vladiken Vilém von Slavkov. A little later the Lords of Rosenberg acquired the estate, and in 1379 it was listed in the Rosenberger Urbar as part of the Wittingau domain . In 1611 the Passau war people , a mercenary army of Prince-Bishop Leopold von Passau , who plundered and murdered the property of Peter Wok von Rosenberg , invaded the area, devastated the Rudolfstadt mines, burned Zaliny down on April 23, 1611 and plundered on April 4. and June 9th Lišov . After the death of Peter Wok von Rosenberg, the Rosenberg inheritance fell to Johann Georg von Schwanberg in 1612 . At the beginning of the Thirty Years' War, Peter von Schwanberg supported the rebellious estates. In June 1619, the imperial general Charles Bonaventure de Longueval, Comte de Bucquoy, conquered Rudolfstadt and left the mountain town to be reduced to rubble for treason. In the battle at Jivno between the rebels and the imperial forces, 70 men were killed. Probably at the same time, Bucquoy also devastated the villages of Zvíkov, Jivno and Lhotky as well as the Vstuhy estate, which belonged to the Protestant Sigismund von Sudeta ( Zikmund ze Sudetů ). After the defeat in the Battle of White Mountain , Wittingau became the center of the rebels, which resisted the attacks of the imperial troops until March 1622. After that, Peter von Schwanberg's goods were confiscated and fell to the Habsburgs , who carried out the Counter-Reformation . Archduke Leopold Wilhelm of Austria ceded the rule of Wittingau to the counts and later princes of Schwarzenberg in 1660 . In 1840 Hwozdetz consisted of 16 houses with 120 inhabitants. The parish was Stiepanowitz . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always subject to the Urtinowitz farm belonging to the Wittingau domain.

After the abolition of patrimonial Hvozdec / Hwozdetz formed from 1850 a district of the municipality Zvíkov in the district administration Budějovice / Budweis and the judicial district Lišov / Lischau. In 1910 Hvozdec / Hwozdetz had 166 Czech-speaking inhabitants. In 1922, Hvozdec broke away from Zvíkov and formed its own municipality. The volunteer fire brigade was formed in 1936. During the German occupation , Hvozdec was forcibly incorporated into Zvíkov in 1943; this was repealed in 1945. On June 12, 1960 Hvozdec was again incorporated into Zvíkov. On April 1, 1976 it was incorporated into Lišov. After a referendum, Hvozdec broke away from Lišov on November 24, 1990 and has since formed its own municipality.
