Jankov (German Jankau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 13 kilometers west of the city center of České Budějovice and belongs to the Okres České Budějovice .
geography
Jankov is located in the northern foothills of the Blanský les and is traversed by the Jankovský potok. To the south there is a ridge with the Skalka (684 m), Střední Hora (702 m) and Svelhan (721 m). In the northeast lies the Vráže (480 m).
Neighboring towns are Borovka and Čakov in the north, Čakovec in the east, Kvítkovice , Habří and Bohouškovice in the south-east, Chmelná in the south, Nová Ves in the south-west, Holašovice in the west and Záboří in the north-west.
history
The first written mention of Jankov comes from 1379.
There are two historic burial mounds in the primeval forest on Skalka southwest of Jankov. In 1927 a bronze treasure of tools as well as women's and men's jewelry from the time of the Knovízská culture was discovered there, dating back to between 1300 and 900 BC. Dated.
Jankov is a member of the Blanský les-podhůří microregion.
Community structure
The municipality Jankov consists of the districts Holašovice ( Hollschowitz ) and Jankov ( Jankau ), which also form cadastral districts. The U Beneda residential area also belongs to Jankov.
