Mazelov (German Maselow , formerly Mazalow ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located eight kilometers north-northwest of Lomnice nad Lužnicí in South Bohemia and belongs to the Okres České Budějovice .

geography

Mazelov is located on both sides of the Mazelovský creek at the foot of the Lischauer Schwelle in the Pšeničná Blata region on the edge of the Wittingau basin . To the east are the ponds Záblatský rybník and Stržka, in the southeast of the Krčín and south of the Velký mazelovský rybník and Malý mazelovský rybník. The Velechvínské polesí forest extends to the south . The Nad Drážkami (436 m) rises in the northeast. To the south are the Žďár and Ovčín deserted areas by the Dubenský potok; to the southwest lies the desert of Provod.

Neighboring towns are Neplachov and Dynín in the north, Lhota and Lhotský Dvur in the Northeast, Záblatí the east, Lomnice nad Lužnicí , Smržov and Dolní Slověnice the southeast, Hůrky, Hrutov and Velechvín in the south, Kolny, Lhotice, Chotýčany , nádraží U and Mazelovský Háj in South-west, Pazderna, Hrobárna and Ševětín in the west and U Prokšů, Na Jednotě, Gebrovna, Švamberk and Drahotěšice in the north-west.

history

The first written mention of the village belonging to the Wittingau rule was in 1446 in a document from Ulrich II von Rosenberg . In 1840 Mazalow consisted of 40 houses with 350 inhabitants. In the village there was a chapel and a private school run by the community. The pastor was Shevetin . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always subject to the Wittingau rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Mazalov / Mazalow 1850 a town Ševětín in the district administration Trebon / Wittingau. Between the 19th and 20th centuries, the townscape was redesigned, in which the wooden farmsteads were replaced by ornate gabled farms in the peasant baroque style. In 1910 Mazalov / Mazalov had 402 Czech-speaking residents. Since 1924 the municipality has been called Mazelov . At the beginning of 1961, the municipality was assigned to the Okres České Budějovice in the course of the abolition of the Okres Třeboň. On June 14, 1964 it was incorporated into Ševětín . After a referendum, Mazelov broke away from Ševětín on November 24, 1990. The historic center of Mazelov has been a rural conservation area since 1995.
