The owners were the Vladiken von Borownicz, who had a harrow in their coat of arms. At the beginning of the 16th century, the Lords of Rosenberg acquired the estate and added it to their rule Krumau . In 1602 Peter Wok von Rosenberg sold the rule to Emperor Rudolf II. The following owners were from 1622 the Eggenberg family and from 1719 the Prince of Schwarzenberg . In 1840 Borownitz / Borownice consisted of 13 houses with 117 inhabitants and was parish after Driesendorf . Below the village, a rustic mill was operated on Zborovský potok, which was owned by the Sezemský family of millers for a long time. The place was surrounded as an exclave by the Komařice monastery and the Wittingau rule . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always subject to the Krumlov rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial Borovnice / Borownitz formed from 1850 a district of the municipality Nová Ves / Neudorf in the district administration Budějovice / Budweis. 1869 took Emperor Franz Joseph Railway on the railway Budweis - Gmünd to operation. In 1910 the village had 144 Czech-speaking inhabitants. In 1931 Borovnice broke away from Nová Ves and formed its own municipality. During the German occupation , Borovnice was forcibly incorporated into Střížov in 1943 ; this was repealed in 1945 after the end of the Second World War. On June 12, 1960 the incorporation to Heřmaň and on June 14, 1964 with this together to Nedabyle.
