history

The village probably originated between the 9th and 10th centuries when the center of the Dúdlebi tribe was in the area. At that time there was a watchtower on Strážkovický vrch . It is assumed that the residents of Strážkovice and Střížov performed guard duty to protect the Doudlebyer Land and the Weitraer Steig through the village because of the exposed location of the villages . The burial mounds in the Štěpánka forest date from the Dúdlebi period. The smaller burial mounds in the Hájek forest cannot be historically assigned and are possibly older.

The village of Strasskouicz was first mentioned in writing in 1391. The regular layout of the village suggests that it was founded or re-established during the colonization period between the 13th and 14th centuries. Strážkovice was divided between several landlords. Part of the village belonged to the Lords of Rosenberg on Gratzen . Another stake in the village was held by the Metl family at the beginning of the 15th century, which Mikuláš von Bukvice inherited in 1412. Another part of the village was subject to the Komařice estate. In addition, the Vladiken von Doudleby owned some farmsteads and the Krumlov Prelature owned an estate. After 1522 Petr von Doudleby sold his share to Wenzel Metl von Feldorf, who sold his share to the city of Budweis at the turn of the year between 1543 and 1544. In 1610 Jakub Barborka from Strážkovice was executed at the stake after a complaint from Šimon Štěrba for witchcraft and seduction of women. The same fate befell Štěrba shortly afterwards because of adultery. In 1840 Strážkovice consisted of 58 houses with 312 inhabitants. Of these, 25 houses were subordinate to the Komařice monastery, 15 to the Krumlov prelature, twelve to the Budweis rule , four to the St. Clara manor and one to the Wittingau rule. The parish was Střížov . A brick kiln and an iron mine were operated in the village. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always divided between different landlords.

After the abolition of patrimonial Stražkovice / Straschkowitz formed from 1850 with the district Řevňovice a municipality in the district administration Budějovice / Budweis. In the Suchý forest to the north-west of the village, the Marie and St. Nicholas iron mines were opened in 1852, the ores of which were melted in the Adolf's works ( Adolfov ) in Holubov . At the end of the 19th century the village was temporarily called Straškovice . In 1914 there were 484 Czechs living in the village; Stražkovice had 390 inhabitants and Řevňovice 94. The current place name Strážkovice was introduced in 1924. In 1948 the community was added to the newly formed Okres Trhové Sviny, which was repealed twelve years later. At the beginning of 1961 Strážkovice was assigned to the Okres České Budějovice and Lomec was incorporated at the same time. On July 1, 1985, Střížov and Komařice were incorporated (with Pašinovice, Sedlo and Stradov); Both places broke up on November 24, 1990 and formed their own communities.
