history

Evidence of an early settlement is provided by the burial mounds in Panský les from the Bronze Age . The first written mention of the village Lhotka was in 1400. After Lhotka fell in the 16th century, the Mehlhüttel Meierhof was built on the site of the village . During the Thirty Years' War the Hohenfurth monastery acquired the farm and attached it to the Komařice monastery . In 1633 the Mehlhüttel farm burned down. The corridors of the courtyard were later emphyteutized and the village of Hermannsdorf was founded in 1787 as part of the raabization . The street village , made up of two rows of houses with a total of 21 houses, was named after the Hohenfurt abbot Hermann Kurz . The residents of Hermannsdorf were all Czech-speaking. Unresolved rights of way soon led to protracted disputes with the surrounding villages. In 1840 Hermannsdorf / Heřmanic consisted of 24 houses with 158 inhabitants and was parish after Teindles . The Stiftsgut operated a limestone quarry and a lime distillery near Hermannsdorf , and it also owned a disused potash boiler . Two other lime kilns were operated by the city of Budweis and a farmer from Plawen . Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always subject to the Komařice monastery.

After the abolition of patrimonial Heřmaně / Hermannsdorf formed from 1850 a district of the municipality Plava in the district administration Budějovice / Budweis. 1869 took Emperor Franz Joseph Railway on the railway Budweis - Gmund the operation and drove on without stopping Hermane over. The Czech place name Heřmaň has been used since the beginning of the 20th century . In 1913 the village had 285 Czech-speaking residents. The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1922. At the beginning of 1957 Heřmaň broke away from Plav and formed its own community. The brief interlude of independence was ended on June 14, 1964 with the incorporation into Nedabyle. After a referendum, Heřmaň broke away from Nedabyle on November 24, 1990 and has since formed its own municipality.
