Philippe Nemo (born May 11, 1949 in Paris ) is a French philosopher .

Nemo studied at the École Normale Supérieure de Saint-Cloud and is now a professor at ESCP Europe . In the 1970s he was an advisor to the ministers Jacques Barrot and Lionel Stoléru . From 1978 and 1982 he worked at the University of Tours . In Germany he was mainly through his book What is the West? The genesis of Western civilization is known. His book Job et l'Excès du mal was translated into English, but received little attention in Germany. In 1999 a new edition appeared with a contribution by Emmanuel Levinas.
