Olešník (German Woleschnik , formerly Wolleschnik ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located five kilometers north of Zliv and belongs to the Okres České Budějovice .
geography
Olešník is located by the Olešník brook in the Budweiser Basin ( Českobudějovická pánev ). The Olešnický vrch (499 m) rises to the southeast. The Rojdánek and Nové Jámy ponds are at the eastern end of the village. To the south-east and south-west there are residual holes of several lignite pits , which last served as sewage sumps for uranium processing MAPE and are heavily contaminated.
Neighboring towns are Velice in the north, Nová Ves, Jednota, Výštice and Chlumec in the Northeast, Ovčín and Poněšice the east, Dobřejovice, Stará Obora, Křivonoska and Hluboka nad Vltavou in the southeast, Zahájí and Mydlovary in the south, Zbudov and Česká Lhota in the southwest, Dívčice in the west and Dubenec, Nákří and Strachovice in the north-west.
history
The first written mention of the village of Wolleschnik , which belonged to the Frauenberg lordship , was in 1409 in the Rosenberg hangman's book in connection with a horse thief .
In 1835 Woleschnik consisted of 31 houses with 213 inhabitants. In the place there was a manorial farm, a sheep farm and an inn. The parish was Zahay . Until the middle of the 19th century the village remained subject to the Frauenberg lordship belonging to the Prince Schwarzenberg .
After the abolition of patrimonial Volešník and Olešník / Wolleschnik formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration of Budějovice / Budweis. In the second half of the 19th century, lignite mining began in the area around the village . In 1883 the Fürstlich Schwarzenbergsche Domain Frauenberg had the pit water analyzed by Alto Arche and Carl Hassack with a negative result for its suitability for discharge into the stately fish ponds. In 1910 there were 531 Czechs living in the village. In 1921 the village consisted of 65 houses in which 595 people lived. Olešník has been used exclusively as the Czech place name since 1924. In 1962 the chemical processing plant for uranium ore MAPE went into operation near Mydlovary , whereby the remaining holes of the charred lignite mine served as settling basins. Between 1948 and 1960 Olešník was assigned to the Okres Týn nad Vltavou. On June 14, 1964 the incorporation of Chlumec including Nová Ves took place. In 1973 lignite mining was completely stopped. After the political change , uranium leaching in the MAPE was stopped on November 1, 1991.
Located between the villages of Mydlovary, Zahájí, Olešník, Nákří and Dívčice, the 227 hectare site of the uranium sludge ponds of the MAPE is now considered one of the country's greatest environmental hazards. The renovation work began in 1996. The completion of the renovation and recultivation work is not foreseeable; it is expected to last between 20 and 50 years. It is forecast that the drainage water to be discharged into the Vltava will be cleaned for 100 years.
Community structure
The municipality of Olešník consists of the districts Chlumec ( Chlumetz ), Nová Ves ( Neudorf ) and Olešník ( Woleschnik ) as well as the residential areas Červený Kříž ( Rothenkreuz ), Jednota, Krejcárka ( Kreuzerheger ), Ovčín, Vyhlídka and Výštice (formerly Nemanický Hačín) ).
