Čížkrajice (German Sitzkreis ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located four kilometers south of Trhové Sviny in South Bohemia and belongs to the Okres České Budějovice .

geography

Čížkrajice is located in the foreland of the Gratzener Bergland in a pond landscape in the headwaters of the Boršíkovský creek. The Hájek (584 m) rises to the northeast and the Na Stráni to the northwest.

Neighboring towns are Boršíkov in the north, Mezilesí and Pěčín in the northeast, Žár in the east, Klažary and Kamenná in the southeast, Kukle and Chvalkov in the south, Na Panském, Louzův Mlýn and Slavče in the southwest and Mohuřice and Lniště in the northwest.

history

The area around Čížkrajice is one of the oldest documented areas in Bohemia. While written records about the neighboring towns of Todně, Něchov, Mohuřice and Žár began as early as 1186, Čížkrajice has only been documented since 1322. The place names Klažary, Nežetice, Nesměň, Otěvěk, Keblany, Kondrač and Trutmaň are of Celtic origin and prove a much earlier settlement.

In the Middle Ages, Čížkrajice was a fortified village whose only gate in the northeast led from the fortress to the road to Schweinitz . There is no regular village square. According to the inscription on a tombstone in the Schweinitz church, the allodial estate Sitzkreis belonged to Johann Bejšovec von Bejšov († 1687) in the 17th century . In 1745 Josepha Reissky von Dubnitz sold the estate to Franz von Buquoy on Gratzen , who attached it to his rule. 1840 lived in the 22 houses of sitting in a circle / Sickregice 185 German and Czechs. In the village there was a manorial castle, a leased farm and a sheep farm. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village always remained subservient to Gratzen.

After the abolition of patrimonial Čížkrajice / Sitzkreis formed from 1850 initially a district of the municipality Pěčín / Haid in the district administration Budějovice / Budweis and then from 1884 became part of the municipality Kondráč / Neudorf. In 1893 the place consisted of 36 houses and 155 inhabitants. Since 1922 Čížkrajice / Sitzkreis formed its own municipality in the Okres České Budějovice. In 1930 142 people lived in the community and in 1939 there were 163. In 1943, during the German occupation, it was incorporated into Schweinitz, which was reversed after the end of the Second World War in 1945. In 1948 the village was added to the newly formed Okres Trhové Sviny, which was repealed twelve years later. Since then, the community has belonged again to Okres České Budějovice. At the beginning of 1991 the new incorporation to Trhové Sviny took place. Since 1994 Čížkrajice has formed its own municipality again.
