Závraty (German Zawrates ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located eight kilometers southwest of České Budějovice in South Bohemia and belongs to the Okres České Budějovice .

geography

Závraty is located at the foot of the Blanský les in the Budweiser Basin. The village lies on the right side of the Homolský creek, which is dammed north in the pond Závratský rybník. In the north rises the Na Klínaru (457 m), south of the Na Vrchu (509 m) and in the southwest of the Švehlany (520 m). České Budějovice Airport extends to the northeast .

Neighboring towns are Kaliště u Lipí in the north, Mokré and Šindlovy Dvory in the northeast, Nové Homole in the east, Černý Dub and U Nádraží in the southeast, Dvůr Koroseky, U Nové Hospody and Vrábče in the south, U Zastávky in the southwest, U Zajcečka in the west and Hradčka as well as Habří , Lipí and Mrzutá in the northwest.

history

To the west of the village, remains of an early settlement from the Bronze , Hallstatt and Latène Ages were found in the Travní corridor . Not far from it, a barrow from the time around 750–500 BC was found at the U Zajíčka single layer . Discovered, in which a Hallstatt-era princely grave is suspected.

The first written mention of the village belonging to Korosek Castle took place in 1365. Later, the city of Budweis acquired the Korosek estate with the associated villages and sold it in 1636 to Johann Anton I von Eggenberg on Krumau . In 1840 Zawrates / Závraty consisted of 13 houses with 179 inhabitants. The parish and school location was Payreschau .

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Zawraten / Závraty 1850 a settlement of the community Vrábče in the district administration Budějovice / Budweis. In 1900 the villages of Zawrat, Neuhummeln, Cernoduben and Kleinkorosek decided to set up a joint volunteer fire brigade. In 1914 there were 146 Czech-speaking people living in the village. On July 1, 1960, the village was separated from Vrábče and reunification to Homole . Since January 1st, 1992, Závraty has formed its own community for the first time in its history.
