history

The first written mention of Černkov took place in 1412. To the south of it, on the right side of the Židova strouha, there was another settlement with Černkovec, first detectable in 1437 , which can be located with today's houses No. 1 and 2 in the former Bečice part. Both localities were subject to different rulers; Černkov was with Březnice the castle Dobronice servants, Černkovec belonged as part of Bečice for episcopal rule Thein . In 1461 the Čabelický von Soutice acquired the Thein estate as a pledge. In 1543 they also took possession of Črnkov . In 1623 the village was first referred to as Čenkov . During the Thirty Years War, the village was completely burned down and deserted. In 1648 Čenkov consisted of only one chaluppe ( Baštovská ) and five pieces of land. Fifty years later the village was still described as completely desolate, but at that time three newly built chalets had been added on lordly land. Originally there were two ponds in the vicinity of Čenkov. After the dam on one of the ponds was broken in the 18th century, it was no longer produced and trees were planted. The other pond was on the northern cadastral border, at the foot of the dam there was a mill. Also in 1775 Čenkov was listed as a completely burned down village with four chalets. After the house numbers were introduced, there were 16 houses in the village in 1785; 14 of them were inhabited and number 16 was a community poor house ( pastouška ). In the first half of the 19th century a new settlement was established north of Čenkow , which was initially called V nových chalupách , later Malý Čenkov. In 1840 Čenkow or Unter-Čenkow consisted of 18 houses with 130 inhabitants. 15 of the houses were subject to the lordship of Bechin and three to the estate of Bzy . The mill Strauha or Na Strauze ( Židova Strouha ) was on the other side . The parish was Žimutice . Until the middle of the 19th century, Čenkow always remained partially subservient to Bechin or Bzy.

After the abolition of patrimonial , the division of the village continued. The larger northern part, which also included Malý Čenkov, formed from 1850 the district Čenkov of the municipality Březnice in the district administration Milevsko / Mühlhausen and the judicial district Bechin. The southern part formed the district Čenkov of the municipality Bečice in the district administration and the judicial district Týn nad Vltavou / Moldauthein. After the Židova Strouha mill was ruined in a flood, it was rebuilt 150 m north on Smilovice corridor. Later this pond was also abandoned. From 1878 the Bečice part was differentiated as Čenkov 1. díl and the Březnice part as Čenkov 2. díl , but at the beginning of the 20th century both parts were only called Čenkov . In 1910 the Bečice part had twelve Czech-speaking residents. Since 1918, the residents sought to form their own community. After requests in this regard had initially been rejected several times, the formation of a municipality Čenkov was finally granted in November 1923. However, this only included the 23 houses of the former Březnica part. In 1927 Čenkov was electrified. The volunteer fire brigade was formed in 1929. During the German occupation , the community bore the German name Tschenkau from 1939 to 1945 , while the district belonging to Betschitz was called Tschenkow . In 1946 five families moved to the border areas . In 1948, after the Okres Milevsko was abolished, the municipality was assigned to the Okres Týn nad Vltavou. In 1957 an agricultural production cooperative (JZD) was founded, four farmers continue to cultivate their fields privately. In 1960 the Okres Týn nad Vltavou was dissolved, with Čenkov becoming part of the Okres Tábor and receiving the official suffix u Bechyně to distinguish it from an existing community of the same name (Čenkov u Malšic) . At the same time, the Bečice part was incorporated together with Bečice to Žimutice and lost its status as a district. Between 1970 and 1971 the road to Záhoří was built. In 1971 the place was connected to the bus service. On November 26, 1971 Čenkov u Bechyně was again incorporated into Březnice. In 1972 a fire water pond was created, it was filled in in 2000 after the tributary had dried up. After a referendum, Čenkov u Bechyně broke away from Březnice on November 24, 1990 and formed its own municipality. The residents of the Bečice share also decided at the same time to break away from Žimutice and to merge with Čenkov u Bechyně, so that the division of the place was lifted. The municipality Čenkov u Bechyně changed on January 1, 2007 in the Okres České Budějovice . In January 2008 the cadastral border with Bečice was adjusted, in which the houses No. 1 and 2 belonging to the former Bečice part were also assigned to the cadastre of Čenkov u Bechyně. Today the place consists of 21 houses, four of which are only used as holiday homes.
