history

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1379.

In 1840 Zahořj or Zahoř consisted of 27 houses with 191 inhabitants. A hunter's house and a Dominikal house belonged to the remote location. The parish was Žimutice . Until the middle of the 19th century, Zahořj always remained submissive to Thein .

After the abolition of patrimonial Zahoří formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration and the judicial district Týn nad Vltavou / Moldauthein. The current form of the place name became common at the beginning of the 20th century. At the end of 1960 Záhoří was assigned to the Okres Tábor after the Okres Týn nad Vltavou was abolished . On November 26, 1971 it was incorporated into Březnice . After a referendum, Záhoří broke away from Březnice on November 24, 1990 and formed its own municipality. Today the village has about 50 permanent residents, 18 of the houses are used as holiday homes.
