history

Val was probably formed together with Hamr, Vlkov and the Dehetník farm in the 13th century during the settlement of the primeval forests on the Lainsitz and Nežárka. The first written mention of the fortress Val, which belonged to Hans Schorz von Wall ( Hanuš Šorc z Valu ), took place in 1413. To the south-east of this a small round was built around a village square with the chalets of the subjects. After Bohuslav von Val and Úsuší had also acquired the Ostrov fortress in 1525, he moved his seat from Val to Ostrov. In the second half of the 16th century, Albrecht Valovský von Úsuší had the Hammer Castle built in place of the Ostrov Fortress and combined both properties into one estate, Hammer and Wall . In 1696 the Imperial and Royal Rittmeister Leopold Freiherr von Gerard acquired the estate. In 1714 Wenzel Ritter von Goltz-Goltz bought the property from him. After the death of Anton Wenzel Ritter von Goltz-Goltz, his pupils sold the Hammer and Wall estate in 1729 to Eleonora Amalie zu Schwarzenberg , who two years later left it to her husband Adam Franz zu Schwarzenberg , who attached it to his rule in Wittingau . In 1840 Wall consisted of 35 houses with 355 inhabitants. A manorial farm, hunter's house and sheep farm as well as the desert areas Albrechtitz (1 house), China (3 houses), Wischniow (4 houses) and Zahradnitz (1 house) belonged to the village. The parish had been a hammer since 1742. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always subject to the Hammer und Wall estate.

After the abolition of patrimonial made Wal / Wall in 1850 a municipality in the district administration Trebon / Wittingau and the judicial district Veseli nad Lužnicí . At that time, 225 people lived in Wal , 56 people in Višné and 27 people in Albrechtice. In 1871 the Gmünd-Prague railway started west of the village . The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1912 and took over the fire engine that the community had acquired in 1896. In 1919 the village consisted of 52 houses, after the land reform of 1920 another ten were built on former manor floors. The resulting settlement along the road to Hamr continued to grow until 1920. After the Okres Třeboň was abolished, Val became part of the Okres Soběslav in 1948. Between 1948 and 1949 the village was electrified and in 1949 it was also connected to the telephone network. The Okres Soběslav was dissolved again in 1961 and Val was assigned to the Okres Tábor; at the same time Hamr was incorporated. On January 1, 1989 Val was incorporated with Hamr to Veselí nad Lužnicí. After a referendum, the village broke up on November 24, 1990 and has since formed its own municipality again. Camp Pávkovna is located in Albrechtice today.
