Stádlec (German Stachletz ) is a minor town in the Okres Tábor with around 560 inhabitants. It is located a little off the Lainsitz River, nine kilometers north of Bechyně and about 15 km southwest of Tábor in the Czech Republic .

history

The first written mention of the village comes from 1287. In a document dated June 2, 1278, the Bohemian King Wenceslaus II confirmed the change of ownership, Stádlec went to Heinrich I von Rosenberg in exchange for another village from Zawisch von Falkenstein . There was a stronghold in the village , which was probably protected by a moat.

In 1459 the Lords of Rosenberg sold the village and its grounds.

At the beginning of the 17th century, a stronghold, a dairy, a brewery with an inn and two sheep farms are mentioned in Stadlec. The village was burned down by the imperial army in 1622 during the Thirty Years' War .

A school has existed in Stádlec since 1700, and in 1865 the village was elevated to a parish.

At the end of the 19th century Stádlec had 111 houses with 699 inhabitants, 63 of them Jews. There were two mills. A brewery, a distillery (annual production 833 hl alcohol) and a brick factory belonged to the castle.
