Heinrich I. von Rosenberg

Heinrich I. von Rosenberg (Czech Jindřich I. z Rožmberka ; † July 4, 1310 in Prague ) was from 1301 chief chamberlain of the Kingdom of Bohemia. He came from the Witigonischen family branch of the Rosenbergs .

Life

Heinrich's parents were Wok von Rosenberg and Hedwig von Schaunberg . Heinrich's brother was Witiko VI. von Rosenberg († 1277). Henry is first detected on 19 March 1272, when he and his brother the monastery Hohenfurt the patronage of the Church of Raabs an der Thaya were broadcasting what the viscount of Rosenberg castle , Benesch of Harachy ( Beneš z Harachu / Horachu ) and its two Brothers was testified. In the political disputes after the death of the Bohemian King Ottokar II. Přemysl, Heinrich initially supported Zawisch von Falkenstein , who came from the Krumlov branch of the Witigonen family. After Zawisch's capture in 1289, Heinrich became reconciled with King Wenceslaus II . This appointed him on January 6, 1301 to the Chamberlain of the Kingdom of Bohemia.

After the death of the last Witigonen from the Krumlov line, Wok von Krumau , his possessions initially fell to King Wenceslaus as a settled fief. In the same year he gave it to his Chamberlain, Heinrich I von Rosenberg. Subsequently moved his residence from Henry Castle Rosenberg Krumlov to the castle Cesky Krumlov , where his descendants resided another three centuries.

In the controversy for the succession to the throne after the death of the last Přemyslid King Wenceslaus II in 1306 between Heinrich of Carinthia and the Habsburg Rudolf I , Heinrich supported the candidate Rudolf I, who became King of Bohemia in 1306, together with other Bohemian nobles. As a reward for his support, Heinrich asked for the return of Raabs Castle, which King Ottokar II. Přemysl had given his father in 1260. However, since Raabs had been pledged elsewhere in the meantime, Heinrich received the Zvíkov royal castle as a pledge for a limited time . He could not take possession of this either because it was owned by Bavor III. was besieged by Strakonitz , an opponent of the new Bohemian king. Only after the death of King Rudolf I in 1307, after Heinrich of Carinthia had been elected as his successor, did Zvíkov Castle come into the possession of Heinrich.

On July 26, 1307 Heinrich exchanged the episcopal villages Sepekov , Radimovice and Čelkovice with the Prague bishop Johann IV of Dražice for the Rosenberg lordships of Křivsoudov and Herálec. Heinrich died on July 4, 1310 in Prague Castle . His body was buried in the family crypt in the Hohenfurth monastery church.
