Byron Moreno

Byron Aldemar Moreno Ruales (* 23. November 1969 in Quito ) is a former Ecuadorian FIFA - football referee .

Career

Moreno was known for a strict interpretation of the rules since the beginning of his career. In 1998 he sent six players off the field in one game. In one season he had 1.08 red cards per game.

He is said to have deliberately made wrong penalty decisions and only ended the game after the league had turned the game from 2: 3 to 4: 3 (with an indicated stoppage time of six minutes, this ultimately amounted to twelve minutes. In fact, he gave both teams each a penalty and a red card. A goal he disallowed Quito for handball.
