history
Vlkov and the Dehetník farm were created together with Hamr and Val in the 13th century as part of the settlement of the primeval forests in the Lainsitz lowland. The name Dehetník suggests that the origin of the farm was a bad luck factory . After the village of Vlkov, which belongs to the Hammer und Wall estate , was deserted during the Thirty Years' War, it was repopulated in 1654. In 1729 Adam Franz Prince zu Schwarzenberg acquired the Hammer und Wall estate and added it to his dominion in Wittingau . In 1840 Wlkow consisted of 19 houses with 196 inhabitants. The manor Dehetnjk belonged to the village. The parish was awesome. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always subject to the Hammer und Wall estate.
After the abolition of patrimonial formed Vlkov / Wlkow 1850 with the hamlet Hamry a municipality in the district administration Trebon / Wittingau and the judicial district Veseli nad Lužnicí . In 1871 the Gmünd-Prague railway started operating . In 1874 the village was repared from Hamr to Veselí. At the same time Hamr formed its own community. After the Okres Třeboň was abolished, Vlkov became part of the Okres Soběslav in 1948. This was dissolved again in 1961 and the village was assigned to the Okres Tábor. Between 1952 and 1986 there was intensive gravel mining in the sandbanks on the Lainitz between Vlkov and Veselí nad Lužnicí, after which the lakes Vlkovská pískovna, Jezero Veselí, Jezero Veselí I., Jezero Horusice and Jezero Horusice I emerged from the gravel pits July 1980 Vlkov was incorporated into Veselí nad Lužnicí. After a referendum, the village broke away on November 24, 1990 and has since formed its own community. Vlkov is now a resort.
