history

Žíšov was probably built in the 12th century and belonged to the Witigonen family . The village was first mentioned in writing in 1362. At the beginning of the Hussite Wars , the Picards (Adamites) of Ostrov plundered the village. In 1421 Jan Žižka undertook a successful punitive expedition against the sect with 400 men. Local tradition reports that afterwards the village took the name Žíšov as a token of gratitude. When King Vladislav II Jagiello ceded all rights to the town of Veselí to the Rosenbergs on October 6, 1488 , Žíšov was listed as an accessory by Veselí. Over time, the place was called Žissov and Žiešov . After the death of Peter Wok von Rosenberg , the rule of Wittingau fell to Peter von Schwanberg in 1612 . His fortune was confiscated after the Battle of the White Mountains because of his participation in the class uprising of 1618. It fell to the Habsburgs who carried out the Counter Reformation . Archduke Leopold Wilhelm of Austria ceded the rule of Wittingau to the Counts of Schwarzenberg in 1660 . In 1840 Zischow / Zissow consisted of 33 houses with 204 inhabitants, one of which was subordinate to Kardasch Retschitz . The parsonage was Wesely. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village was always subject to the Wittingau rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Žíšov / Schischow 1850 a district of the municipality Dráchov in the district administration Trebon / Wittingau and the judicial district Veseli nad Lužnicí . Since then Dráchov has been a parish and school location. In 1873 Šišov or Žišov broke away from Dráchov and formed its own community. The place name Žíšov has been used since 1924 . After the Okres Třeboň was abolished, Žíšov became part of the Okres Soběslav in 1948. This was dissolved again in 1961 and the place assigned to the Okres Tábor, at the same time it was incorporated as a district Veselí nad Lužnicí III - Žíšov after Veselí nad Lužnicí. After a referendum, Žíšov broke up on November 24, 1990 and formed its own municipality.
