history

Remnants of clay and graphite vessels filled with ashes and charcoal, which were found in Kopaniny, indicate an early settlement. To the west of Hodonice there are remains of barrows.

The first written mention of Hodonice was on August 3, 1268, when Bishop John III. the village ceded to King Ottokar II Přemysl along with other localities of the episcopal rule Thein . In 1528 Christoph von Schwanberg acquired the villages of Hodonice, Smoleč, Černýšovice, Černice, Hodětín, Sudoměřice, Radětice, Bežerovice, Oltýň, Vyhnanice, Senožaty and Hvožďany. After he had acquired the owner of the Bechin estate in 1530 , he joined the villages to it. Heinrich von Schwanberg sold the Bechin manor and the villages of Hodušín, Dražíce, Sepekov , Olší, Podhoří, Nuzice, Držkrajov, Lhota Haškovcova, Blatec, Čečkov and the desert village of Benešovce for 23,750 Schock Bohemian groschen to Peter Wok von Rosenberg in 1569 . At the beginning of the Thirty Years War, the village was located in the area left of the Lainsitz, which was most severely devastated, and was destroyed in 1619. In 1654, Hodonice is listed in the berní rula as completely burnt down. In the following years the village was repopulated. In 1688, Hodonice consisted of 18 farms, four of which were desert, and seven chalets, including three of which were desert. At that time, Nuzice was listed as a district of Hodonice in the land register of the Bechin manor. In 1840 Hodonitz consisted of 46 houses with 355 inhabitants. The village Steinhof ( Kamenný Dvůr ) with a sheep farm as well as the Wasenmeisterei Na Kopaninách belonged to the remote location . In addition, a potash boiler was operated. The parish and school location was Sudoměřitz . Until the middle of the 19th century, Hodonitz always remained submissive to Bechin .

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Hodonice / Hodonitz 1850 a municipality in the district administration Milevsko / Mulhouse and the Judicial District Bechyně / Bechin. In 1869 Hodonice consisted of 47 houses and had 389 inhabitants. In the second half of the 19th century, the children from Hodonice were retrained because of the long way to school from Sudoměřice to Bechin. The way to school to Bechin was much shorter, but very difficult because the deep Lainsitztal had to be overcome. For this reason, on May 3, 1880, the community was asked to set up its own school. After repeated requests, a one-class elementary school finally started teaching in Hodonice in 1893. The volunteer fire brigade was formed in 1900. In 1926 the village had grown to 65 houses, but the number of inhabitants fell to 336; there were 20 farmers in the village. In the same year Hodonice was electrified.

After the dissolution of the Okres Milevsko, the municipality became part of the Okres Týn nad Vltavou in 1948. After its abolition in late 1960, Hodonice was assigned to the Okres Tábor . At the beginning of 1975 Hodonice was incorporated into Březnice . After a referendum, the village broke away from Březnice on November 24, 1990 and formed its own municipality.
