Peter Freichel

Peter Freichel (born November 8, 1953 in Merzig ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

After primary school, Freichel attended trade school and then completed an apprenticeship as a steel construction fitter. In 1972 he passed his skilled worker examination. Freichel has been a union member since 1971 and is an active member of IG Metall . From 1971 he was a youth representative on the works council of Dillinger Stahlbau in Saarlouis , from 1976 a member of the works council and from 1985 a freelance works council member and general works council chairman. He is currently a member of the executive board of the group works council of MAN AG .

Freichel is a member of the SPD and is involved in the working group for employee issues . Since 1984 he has been a local council member in Saarwellingen . In 1992, he moved to the retiring Leo Petry in the state parliament of Saarland after which he belongs to the end of the legislative period 1994th He did not succeed in direct re-election, but in 1996 he was able to  move into the state parliament again as a successor - this time for Heiko Maas . In the 1999 elections, he did not run again for a mandate.

Freichel is a Roman Catholic. He is married and has two sons.
