Peter Hackl

Peter Hackl (* 1942 in Linz ) is an emeritus Austrian university professor in the field of business statistics . Between 2005 and 2009 he was General Director of Statistics Austria .

career

Hackl studied technical physics at the Vienna University of Technology , became a graduate engineer in 1965 and a Dr. techn. PhD. He then switched to the University of World Trade in Vienna as a university assistant (from 1975: Vienna University of Economics and Business), where he completed his habilitation at the Institute for Statistics in 1979 and became an associate professor in 1981. From 1988 to 1989 he was visiting professor at the University of Iowa (USA). In 1991 he became head of the business statistics department at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. From 1997 to 2000 he also held the office of Vice Dean of Studies for the evaluation of teaching. In 2006 Peter Hackl retired from the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

In addition, Peter Hackl was President of the Austrian Statistical Society (ÖSG) from 1995 to 2000 and was then appointed Deputy Chairman of the Statistics Council of the reformed Federal Statistical Office, where he also headed the Quality Assurance Committee. From 2005 to December 2009, Peter Hackl was General Director of Statistics Austria.
