Peter Hartmann (politician, 1904)

Peter Hartmann (born October 20, 1904 in Niederzeuzheim , † 1967 ) was a German local politician.

Hartmann completed an apprenticeship at IG Farben and from 1923 worked at Degussa in Rheinfelden. From 1926 to 1938 worked in the laboratory of a textile company in Weil am Rhein. During the Second World War, he did military service from 1939 to 1944.

From 1929 he was a member of the left-wing liberal DDP . After the end of the war, he took part in building the Democratic Party in Baden, which later became part of the FDP , and was deputy chairman of the Lörrach district association. In April 1945 he was appointed deputy mayor behind Rudolf Kraus in Weil am Rhein and was then mayor of the city himself from 1946 to 1957. From 1959 to 1967 he was a member of the local council.
