Peter Hennige

Peter Hennige (* 1944 in Darmstadt ) is a former German racing car driver and today's entrepreneur.

Career

Peter Hennige began his racing career in touring car racing in 1972 . He achieved his first race win in 1974 with a Ford Escort RS 1600 of the Zakspeed team in the GT2.0 / T2.0 race in Zolder. In the same year he entered the 2nd division of the German Racing Championship (DRM) with a Ford Escort RS 1600 .

1975 was the most successful year in his racing career. In the DRM he celebrated his best result in this racing series with 8th place overall. With the Ford team, he and his driver colleagues Hans Heyer and Jochen Mass achieved overall victory in a Ford Escort RS 2000 in the 1000 km race in Kyalami . This victory in a long-distance race was also his greatest racing success.

In 1976 with a Ford Escort RS 2000 and 1977 with a BMW 2002 Turbo , he drove further racing seasons in the DRM, although he was no longer able to build on his successes. In 1975, 1976 and 1977 he celebrated success in the DRM race of the 2nd division in Kassel-Calden.

In addition, from 1974 to 1976 he competed in various touring car races in the German Automobile Round Trip Cup (DARM), the European Championship for GT vehicles and the European Touring Car Championship .

In 1978, Hennige said goodbye to motorsport. He entered the automobile trade as a qualified businessman. In 1993 he sold his car dealerships and switched to the real estate industry, where he still works today.

Hennige is engaged to Meharit Schubert, the widow of Bruno H. Schubert .

In August 2015, he was arrested on suspicion of investment fraud. In May 2016, after a confession, he was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.
