Peter Jonathan Hitchens (born October 28, 1951 in Sliema ) is a British journalist and author .

Life

Peter Hitchens is the son of a British naval officer. Like his brother Christopher Hitchens (1949-2011), who was also a journalist, he attended a British private school.

In his youth, like his brother Christopher, he was radical left and a member of the International Socialist Party. He studied at the University of York and began his journalistic career with a local newspaper. In the 1970s he went to the Daily Express . He was the newspaper's correspondent in the Soviet Union and the United States. He left the paper in 2000 after it was bought by Richard Desmond . Hitchens is the author of four books and writes a column for the UK's Mail on Sunday . He is also a frequent guest on political television and radio programs.

According to his own statement, he slowly began to return to the Christian faith from 1981. Today he belongs to the conservative wing of the Church of England and represents conservative morals.
