Peter Holmberg

Peter Holmberg (born October 4, 1960 in Saint Thomas ) is a former sailor of the US Virgin Islands .

Holmberg attended Saints Peter & Paul Catholic School and then Charlotte Amalie High School . There he received his high school diploma , supplemented by evening classes at the College of the Virgin Islands and a General Educational Development Test . Holmberg now went to California , where he first attended Santa Rosa Junior College and then Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz County .

He then studied at Sonoma State University . There he was a member of the university's sailing team. Holmberg and his older brother had already come into contact with sailing through his parents at a young age. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management , he returned to Saint Thomas.

Holmberg now began his training for participation in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles . His local power encouraged him in 1988 in Seoul again at the Summer Olympics participate.

With his silver medal in the Finn dinghy at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, he became the first and only athlete in the US Virgin Islands to win a medal at the Olympic Games .
