The Bertholdmühle , formerly also Bernhardmühle , is one of two preserved watermills in Oderwitz . It is still used today as a flour mill and can be visited.
history
The mill was first mentioned in a document in 1600. Since 1769 it has been owned by the Bernhard family, which is where its previous name comes from. From the 1930s onwards, the hydropower of the Landwasser began to decline, so the mill was partly operated with diesel engines. When hydropower subsided completely in the 1960s, the mill operation was switched to electric motors .
Rye and wheat flours are still produced in the mill today and are supplied to local bakeries. Furthermore, the Berthold-Mühle Oberoderwitz is a training company for milling technology .
