Peter Hyndman
Peter Hyndman (born 1942 - September 7, 2006 in Vancouver ) was a Canadian politician ( British Columbia ).
Study and job
After studying law at the University of British Columbia Law School and economics at Harvard University, he worked as a lawyer.
Political activities
Hyndman was originally a Conservative Party member and speechwriter for former Canadian Prime Minister John Diefenbaker . In 1974, however, he co-founded the Social Credit Party of Canada out of dissatisfaction with the policies of the Conservative Party .
From 1979 to 1983 he represented the Vancouver South constituency in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia . He was also Minister for Consumer and Cooperative Affairs in the British Columbia Government from 1981 to 1983.
Later professional activities
After retiring from active politics, Hyndman worked again as a lawyer and as a director of various public and private companies. For example, he was founding director of the “Pacific Salmon and Steelhead Societies”. He later became Governor of the British Columbia Economic Council.
Most recently, he was a member of the board of directors of the Independent Voters' Association (Non-Partisan Association) from 2003 as well as its deputy election manager for the 2005 election.
