Peter I (Wroclaw)

Peter I (also Peter I ; † 1111 ) was Bishop of Breslau .

After the death of Wroclaw Bishop Johann I , a vacancy occurred. It is believed that the members of the cathedral chapter could not agree on a candidate. Finally, the choice fell on Peter, a Breslau scholastic . The episcopal ordination took place in Gnesen by the Gnesen Archbishop Peter Bogumil.

Peter is said to have been a friend of the Kraków bishop Stanislaus . After his assassination by Duke Boleslaw II , he is said to have strictly observed compliance with the interdict imposed by the Pope on Poland and Silesia .

During his tenure, the number of Wroclaw canons was increased. In addition, he is said to have acquired other properties for the diocese. Reliable information about his origin and his work has not been passed down.
